The real test is going to come tonight. I'm going to install Far Cry and see if my new hardware is beefy enough to run that system hog at anywhere near top settings.
Call of Duty 2 is the real test...for now. Far Cry is a good one though.

Yes well, I own Far Cry... I don't own CoD 2. And after spending that much on the PC... my wife would cheerfully murder me if I went out and spent more on computer stuff.

Well i have to say that My alienware runs doom three on max settings with no clipping issues at all. I have always been happy with it. And for the 2,200 bucks i paid for it it was a worthy investment considering my friend bought a dual core pentium rig from dell and paid more than 3 g's for the piece of crap and my alienware still outperforms it by leaps and bounds. I love my machine and when its time to buy a new one you can bet i will be breaking out my ole faithfull alienware credit card.

Simplest way I can put this:

Alienware is the best PREBUILT system on the market for gaming.
Most however, through http://www.newegg.com and other sites can build one 3x-4x better for cheaper the price, but if you want gaming now, without making one yourself , Alienware is your best choice ^_^

The one thing I don't like about my new LCD is that the brightness/gamma is hard to zero in. Some things look too bright, others too dark. It's kinda tough to balance out.

Anyway... I stayed away from self-built because I was tired of the potential tech problems. I don't have the personal knowhow to do that, I'd be relying on others. I didn't want to put myself in that position again, so I got the prebuilt with the fat warranty and live tech support. Yes it's much expensive, but I'll pay for the certainty that the guy who built it really did know what he was doing.

Alienware is nothing special, my computer is alot better than it, and it looks better too! I know of lots of people that have computers that are better than alienware.

Alienware is great but ....

it's not the best ... (not anymore)

it's a bit overpriced compared to comparable competition ...

you're paying a bit more for just the name - they don't even have the best service or best quality in the business...

for example Falcon NW has the best service of anybody and make excellent machines ....

for example AAC has exceptional build quality and some of the best cooling in the business (they're cases are proprietary and they don't sell them separately) ...
